England's ACTUAL Problems in The Euros! - Gareth Southgate Tactical Analysis
@england and their Mens National Team has come under a lot of criticism throughout the group stages for their performances despite topping their group. Gareth Southgate and his team have looked less than convincing, but it goes behind just team selection and formation. Players like Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, and everyone else are world class players they just need more clear references on how to use their ability.
Where do you think England will finish in the Euros?

    tactics don't matter if you lack a hungry team. Watching England play is torture right now and i want my time back! The issue is that all these Premier League players act like they're at their clubs right now, ZERO motivation to play for their COUNTRY. It's mindboggling how you can play without any fire in your heart, disgusting!

    Uruguay ran a similar build up yesterday with single pivot and both fullbacks low (as a bielsa Team’s often do). To build on your point of creating eventually overload, Uruguay achieved this through a tremendous amount of movement before and after a line breaking pass. England players were comically slow in comparison. There are so many ways to solve this problem, but they seem incapable of trying. Just like they are incapable of denying progression from their midblock, using a press, or playing in combination to penetrate the back line. I was interested in how they would play Tripier as a right footed left back, but he just does the classic overlap play and is always hindered by having the ball in the wrong foot. It’s a symphony of tactical errors out there.

      Italy played a shit system and the tactical performance of the coach was worse than of the Scottish coach against Germany. Because he had been delivered concrete examples how to play or not to play against the Spanish/German system and he was unable to draw the concrete conclusions. You can have great players. It won't help if you have a coach that doesn't understand modern tactics. I see Spain and Germany on an equal footing. If they would play each other, the chances are probably 50-50.

    Greetings from Germany! Thanks for the interesting analysis. However, Hungary made some problems of the german team visible. They played well against Netherlands and France in the preparation, but against Ukraine and Greece things did not work out well. Hence, I would call the match against Hungary a step forward. If Germany makes it into the 1/4 final, there would probably be Spain, which clearly outplayed Italy in all aspects.

    • @thomaskruck4474
      @thomaskruck4474 2 дні тому

      Well, against Switzerland, a bunch of problems were revealed. The swiss players had an excellent defense. The German players slowed down and did hardly find space where to go. The German defense got under pressure since Rüdiger and Tah both were often far from the central positions, and the midfield players standing high. Still the Germans had enough opportunities to score. The last pass often sloppy. The shots were pretty bad, Harvertz and Rüdiger missed headers which were promising. As if they did not believe. Maybe substitutes Raum and Füllkrug should have been earlier on the pitch.

    @cafeplastique890 5 днів тому

    I agree, Germany have looked really good. Kroos operating as a Pirlo, but not in front of, instead actually as part of the back row, makes him super-difficult to pick up. In a weird way, it reminds me of Nowitzki's fade-away. You can't defend him, because he draws away from you, but he gets his throw/pass anyway. I am sure managers will already be working on a solution to this very special problem - just as Nagelsmann will work on an alternative for the moment this nut has been cracked. I will say this: If this was a league competition, Germany would be my top three candidates for me alongside Spain and France. But football is a game that by its low-scoring nature has the most results that go against run of play, therefore you can never really predict cup competitions anyway. Also, Spain and Germany are on course to meet in the quarters already. So one of them will have a very decent EURO and still go out early.

      Spain and Italy have both perfectly copied the tactics of Germany and Schottland from the first game. 😂 It's stupid from the side of Italy because Hungary had just delivered the example of how to stand a better chance against this 3-1-3-1 offensive system. About the chances of Spain vs. Germany: Spain has one more impressive tool and it's the wingbacks that can go wide and kick the ball dangerously into the centre. The German wingbacks lack this capability as they cannot dribble past defensive players. However Germany has Kroos and many players that know how to make a goal.

      @@LimboJimbo You are right when you say that Germany would beat France. They beat France twice during the last 8 months and even if these were friendly games, it will be in their heads. And tbh there are no real "friendly" games between them because of the history between them. Especially the 2-0 victory in France three months ago was impressive. Spain is full with talent but they are also very unexperienced. And they dont have a REAL leader anymore. The last one was Busquets. These are also the reasons why Spain was unable to finish a very weak Italy. There is a reason why they just won by an own goal. If Spain face a power house like Germany then they will lose. And dont forget the home advantage of Germany which is important too.

    I think so as well, it is almost impossible for me to think the best coach in this euro is not the favourite to win. At the first friendlies i was a bit sussed out for what naglesmann was trying to do but when i watched the games against France and Netherlands he had a clear idea and a clear starting eleven and his ideas where starting to make sense, just like his Leipzig. In the preparation games they where a bit off, but now this games against scotland and Hungary showed it again, for me they are the favourites.

    Tbh it’s not far off what Southgate is trying with England. The difference is England don’t have an attacking left back (who is fit) and a playmaker like Kroos who runs the show! Germany’s team fit this plan so well. World class players across the team. England are a bit short.

    I think he should prove himself in the bundesliga with 1 or 2 teams before jumping to premier league football when all he coached so far is just promotion/relegation leagues. No matter how good of a coach he is bcs he has many good tactics, but the tactical shift and lack of experience will bite his ass. with Saint Pauli people would expect him to just not get relegated, and even that is a huge task for an inexperienced coach and something coaches like Klopp or Nagelsmann had to face (klopp 3 times, got relegated once, Nagelsmann once in 2015/2016) before jumping to bigger teams. This is a decision that could change his career and if it doesnt go steadily it will need quite a few turns and such to reach first level football.
